Totally immersed day and night in continuous holy service of His beloved Satguru, aged Sri Guru Amar Das Ji also used to fetch a pitcher of water from the distant river Beas every night for the bath of Sri Guru Angad Sahib. While leaving Khadur Sahib, Sri Guru Amar Das Ji used to walk backwards, keeping His face towards the Guru and never turned His back towards Him. There does not exist in spiritual history such an example of total devotion to Guru. | ||

Bachan 4:
Guru Nanak Patshah has declared for eternity:
Sada Rahe Nihkam Je Gurmat Paiyai
Being Nishkam is the greatest virtue (sign) of being a Gurmukh. Guru Arjan Patshah says in Sukhmani Sahib:
Gur Ke Greh Sewak Jo Rahe,
Gur Ki Agya Man Mein Sahe
...
Seva Karat Hoye Nihkami,
Tis Ko Hot Prapat Swami
Sikhi Da Pehla Ate Akhri Shalok Guru Di Agya Manana Hai - Baba Narinder Singh Sahib
Great Bachans on How to adhere to all the commandments (hukums) of the Satguru, and what are the obstacles in this path? In the very first hukumnama of Sri Guru Granth Sahib - “Soche Soch Na Hovai Je Soche Lakh Vaar ... Hukum Razai Chalna Nanak Likhia Naal” Sri Guru Nanak Sahib explain these obstacles - the biggest of them being Soch (one's own will, one's own intention) In one's own will, one only thinks about himself, his own benefit, his own profit.
Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj explain how Satguru blesses His Sikh with this boon by bringing him under Satguru's will and Raza. Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj then explained this with a holy Story (Sakhi) of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib. Listen to this most illuminating Holy Incident.

Bachan 5:
Baba Narinder Singh Sahib further explained how this Soch (one's own will) is a great obstacle in the Path to the Satguru. After completing his daily prayers he offered great divine wisdom on Japji Sahib.
Listen to these Bachans on what happens when a Sikh does a path of Sri Japji Sahib with mind offered completely at the Lotus Feet of Satguru. What happens when he reaches the Shalok.
The complete meanings of Soche Soch Na Hovayi Je Sochi Lakh Var is explained with the Sakhi of Sri Guru Angad Sahib.
Baba Narinder Singh Sahib then advised that in one's own will, a Sikh can never be able to do 2 things. He will never be able to truly Love his Satguru, and he will never be able to Sacrifice himself unto the Satguru. As long as one acts as per his own will, he will be engrossed in the worries of the world, he will be inflicted with the five vikaars - (kam, krodh ...) . When he gives up his own will, its the Satguru who is taking care of him, and he will feel completely relieved.

Bachan 6:
Parvachans on Sikhi Ras:
Dharam had requested for 3 things from Nirankar. Listen to what they are.
In the form of Sri Guru Nanak Patshah, Nirankar Himself came and established Dharam. Guru Arjan Patshah then established Nirankar for posterity in the form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Then Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, on the day we are celebrating (The Tercentenary GurGaddi Diwas) completed Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
It won't be wrong to say that the whole of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is full of the Sikhi Ras, which Guru Sehbans tasted at the Lotus Feet of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib - Sri Guru Amar Das Ji tasted at the Lotus Feet of Sri Guru Angad Sahib, Sri Guru Ram Das Ji at the Lotus Feet of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji and so on...
Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj had said “Sikhi Asi Swasan Naal Layi Hai. Asi Ardas Karde Haan Ke Sache Patsshah Sikhi Kesan Swasan Naal Baksho. Jadi Bakshish Swasan naal layi hai Akhri swas tak Guru Nanak Patshah Da Sikh Banaya rahe, Sikhi Da Dava Kadi Na Chhade.” He said about himself that “Yatan Keeta Hai Sikh Banan Da, Haley Tak Oh Vee Poora Nahi Ban Sake”
